A new year is upon us.
Welcome back from what has been an outstanding summer.
I am looking forward to 2016-17. I hope I can meet your expectations in lodge
and in our activities and hope that you all will (re)consider more regular attendance.
We have several activities and interesting and informational
topics planned for meetings. My goal is to reinvigorate our members by making
sure we have a short program every meeting and trying to get everyone involved
in some aspect of lodge life. The
officers have met to discuss the Trestleboard as well several standing
committees that have been set up for the upcoming year. These are Inventory, Charities, Amicable History
Corner, Membership/NorthStar, and Open/Close/Ritual.
I have talked some of you into being on theses committees –
but we need help. Please feel free to
assist where your interests move you.
Of course, we will be doing a degree cycle (1st,
2nd, and 3rd); but only one cycle as we (and other lodges
in Oneida District) want to place emphasis on retention and pursuing members of
quality not just quantity.
Our DDGM is Oct 18th. Please keep it mind and plan to attend. One of the directives from Grand Lodge is
that each lodge must be proficient in Open and Closing. The DDGM is where we will be evaluated. We have little time to prepare but I am
confident with all your help Amicable will do a great job.
We do need help in one area.
We are short TWO STEWARDS to assist the Junior Warden. I am hoping we might be able to set up a
rotating schedule so no one is over-burdened.
Please give this important function your consideration.
